The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
Act of Peace and War The mist from the waterfall, Falling upon my face. Such gracefully landing, The spring breeze rising to an extreme. Like a gun fire about to explode. The cold wind, Blowing the droplets away. Warmth touching my face ever so slightly. Barely feeling that cold prickly warmth, The sun beaming down onto my face. War starting with the sound of a gun fire, But still having that little bit of peace that everyone strives to get, Lasts forever, But people forget peace is coming to life, While it was there all along.
