The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
Connections We have connections with many people. People who we know and people who we don't know. They help us and we help us. We can't live without other people. But atomic bombs tear the connections to nothing in an instant. Atomic bombs kill us. Atomic bombs kill others. This may bring the death of connections. What atomic bombs were dropped for? For the death of connections? We can't see mother, father, sister, brother, wife, husband, son. Grandpa, grandma, friends, neighbors, teachers. Bodies are dead, and we are alive deadly.
