The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
Bomb goes off, Ends the earth in a splash Burns your body kill you People were scared Lying on the ground People we looking for their families People were scared, terrified, Sorry, and sad Family members dead on the ground Scratches, burns, allergic reactions Grey skies, collapsed buildings No turning back now.
