Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

I see people, backs burned
Swollen and also scratched up
I think these people had been bombed and survived hurt
I feel disturbed, sad, mad, and much pain these people gone through
I also see shivered bodies
I see bodies covered with blood and I feel
1945 was a terrifying day...September 21st will never be forgotten
