Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Heartbroken, darkness what I see
Tears of sadness of people shadows on the wall
Nobody to talk to, screaming for help, no one listen
It painful seeing people suffer of lost
Bodies melted on objects that you will not imagine
The sky turns light to darkness like the underground fire
Clothes turns to skin, the burn of Hot boiled Steam
Babies without parents crying for help but Mommy is not
There to save them
Lost families that God has taken them to his kingdom
Now, is the time to fade away the past and let God
Help us get through rough recall.
