Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Those memories...

Their bodies full of radiation
Sadness and tears across the nation
The memories burned into time
for late families they create shrines
They can never forget that ball of light
still now they are always in sight

those bodies were left for families
shadows were left for history
This time is never forgotten
Now these places are full of life
in spite of that big light
