Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

A bomb,
flew out of the airplane and fell in front of me.
At the time I didn't know what it was.
There was an intense flash and everything had vanished.
I awoke, feeling no pain,
But was bruised all over.
I had stayed there on the street for 4 nights and 5 days.
While wondering if I'd get out, I saw my parents.
Looking back now,
 I am thankful,
I have survived this horrible attack
