The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
LIVE IN PEACE Why can't we have peace Until expires our lives on lease Its peace we seek through our sojourn on earth And find it in our solitude in death We have come to the awareness of freedom Of taking it from others and building our kingdoms But we still live in fear Afraid that it may come apart or tear It's never been the absence of war Or conflicts that have become raw It is to love and care Though like silence, has become so rare It is with hope, we live in peace Till the world cries...rest in peace
