The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
August 8, 1945 a simple day, Then for a moment there is silence The world froze No way to get out Only watch the devastation among you A huge cloud of uncertainty arrives with the noise Men, children, and women lost Unable to regain strength But will all the wreckage comes unity Strangers come together to help one another A message from these ruins fills the world: To try and live in harmony with one another.
