Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Peace We Need

The sight of flowers pleases me,
I am set on a lovely place,
where every man is free to dwell,
with no fights of creed and race.

The sign of love and peace exists,
in this world from the start,
where no man should hate the fate,
With tenderness in his heart.

I see no crys, tears and moans,
no man suffering from wars,
and life beyond is passed in a rush,
with all the aching soars.

Countries are friends and arms no more,
no dominancy over strength,
peace reforms and its implementation,
will shed its wings till end.

Peace will rise,time will come,
brothers will everyone be.
Wars and its horrors will do fade,
and bring a new world possibly
