Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

The Aftermath

I didn't see it crumble
But I heard the rumble
My eyes filled with tears
My heart sinked in my fears
Seeing men laid to rest
As the sun set in the West.

I wonder, why so much pain?
For little or no gain.

Yet, I see a new world
Come from these daughters and sons
where all hostilities shall cease.
Love shall be the password
Joyous shall be their songs
And everyone shall be in perfect peace
