The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
It's never right to kill It's never right to kill you know No matter, what you kill for It will never be right It will never be the best thing to do It can never be right to take another mans life No mather what he have done or what he stands for You haven't got the right You haven't got the right ! How long will we go on kill each other When there's so many more important things we could do When will the human race grow up When will the human race start to think Isn't it strange We the people om Earth Shouldn't be able to live together in peace I believe we can We can, We can ! But it's gonna take some time we have got lots of work to do You may say I'm naive But what can be more foolish than kill a brother here on Earth Naive is not to be foolish And that's a right I will defend, and gladly be And Do you see the white dove Sailing in the sky? Do you see the white dove Sailing so high? Peace peace peace over the Earth Love love love love over the Earth We gonna make it with our hands and with our hearts We gonna make it with our Hands with our Hearts with our Love
