The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
The Atomic Bomb War is caused by cruel human beings. It’s surprising, and just scary to suddenly hear a bomb, and see it beaming and being completely unwary. War is a big, messy battle of people being heartless. At the end, everyone is frazzle And the world seems full of darkness. I only hope to see peace bloom everywhere instead of watching people decease, and bombs flying in midair. Why not take advantage of this beautiful world we live in? Why can’t we manage to get along; that way we’ll all win!
