Overview
The publication contains the report of the Group of Experts on the Reduction of Military Budgets, which held four sessions from 1981 to 1982. The report is the latest in a series of United Nations studies on the reduction of military budgets undertaken in past years, which resulted in the development of an instrument for the international reporting of military expenditures. In addition to the analysis of reporting on military budgets by Member States on the basis of the established reporting instrument, the Group discussed for the first time in detail two important related aspects, namely, the problems of international comparison of prices and those of verification of agreements that might be concluded on the reduction of military budgets.
