ECOSOC Youth Forum to be held at the end of January
The ECOSOC Youth Forum, which has been held annually since 2012, will take place from the 30th to the 31st of January in New York under the title “The role of youth in building sustainable and resilient urban and rural communities”. The aim of the forum is to bring youth into discussions with government representatives, youth delegates, policymakers and other relevant stakeholders in civil society and the private sector about the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development.
The Forum’s primary participants come from National Youth Councils, the UN Major Group for Children and Youth, regional youth organizations, and youth-led and youth-focused organizations and networks. This year’s theme centers especially around Sustainable Development Goals 6, 7, 11, 12, 15 and 17. The same Goals will be discussed in this year’s High-level Political Forum in July. During plenary sessions, interactive thematic and regionally-based discussions, which includes regional perspectives, youth will have the opportunity to engage in dialogue with Member States and other stakeholders.
The Youth Forum is organized by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth and the United Nations Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development.
