International Youth Day 2015 Campaign #YouthDay

The Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development, led by the co-chairs, DESA and UNDP, is running an online campaign in the lead up to International Youth Day 12 August 2015. The campaign opens up a space for young people to share their stories, ideas and events on civic engagement activities. Young people were asked to share their message by submitting a photograph that relates to the theme, by tweeting ideas and opinions on the theme using #YouthDay, or by organizing an International Youth Day Event.  Youth should contribute in the building and designing of their future!

IYD Map of Events

You can still organize an event to celebrate International Youth Day in your community, school, youth club, or workplace. You can get some ideas from our toolkit http://bit.ly/1f7gC4S

Send your planned event or activity for International Youth Day to youth@un.org by 11 August 2015, and we’ll map it on the IYD activities map. You can also check out events around the world commemorating International Youth Day and join an event taking place near you! http://bit.ly/1L5SxIW

Photo Submissions

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the #YouthDay campaign by sending their photos portraying how young people engage in and promote civic engagement activities. The deadline to send your picture was 30 July 2015.

The voting for the #YouthDay competition was via Facebook.  The 5 finalists were posted on Facebook at UN4Youth on 31 July. The winning photo was the one with the most “Likes” on Facebook by 7 August at 5pm (EST/New York time).  The winning photo was submitted by Sheihk Khairul Rahaman and will be showcased at the International Youth Day event on 12 August in UN Headquarters, and online, via @UN4Youth and @undp4youth Social Media platforms, and may be used for the World Youth Report 2015.
