Workshop on the production of population estimates and demographic indicators
Overview
The Population Division in collaboration with the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), will organize a regional workshop for the anglophone countries in sub-Saharan Africa to improve national capacity in the production and use of population estimates and demographic indicators for policy making for sustainable development. The workshop will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 5 to 9 October 2015. The project is funded by the United Nations Development Account.

Overview
The Population Division, in collaboration with the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), organized a regional workshop for Anglophone countries in sub-Saharan Africa to improve national capacity in population projections. The workshop was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 7 to 11 March 2016.

La Division de la population, en collaboration avec la Commission économique pour l’Afrique (CEA) et l’Institut africain pour de développement économique et de planification (IDEP), a organisé un atelier de formation régional pour les pays francophones d’Afrique sub-Saharienne visant à renforcer les capacités nationales à produire et à utiliser les estimations démographiques et les indicateurs démographiques dans la formulation des politiques de développement durable. L’atelier s’est tenu à Dakar, Sénégal, du 26 au 30 septembre 2016.

Overview
La Division de la population, en collaboration avec la Commission économique pour l’Afrique (CEA) et l’Institut africain pour de développement économique et de planification (IDEP), a organisé un atelier de formation régional pour les pays francophones de l’Afrique sub-Saharienne dans le but d’améliorer les capacités nationales dans le domaine des projections de population. L’atelier s’est tenu à Dakar, Sénégal, du 28 novembre au 2 décembre 2016.

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and the Organization for International Migration (IOM) have been collaborating in the development of the methodology and measurement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicator 10.7.2 on well-managed migration policies, to inform the global evaluation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
Workshop on measuring population ageing and assessing its economic and fiscal consequences in Asia-Pacific
Overview
Integrating population and development strategies into planning and decision-making is a key objective of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD). It is also an important area of work of the United Nations Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in support of Member States.
Workshop on prospects for fertility decline in high fertility countries
Overview
The past four decades have witnessed tremendous changes in fertility levels in developing countries. Many countries have recorded dramatic declines in total fertility rates and in many others fertility has started to decline. Despite those trends, there remain 48 countries that have fertility levels above 5 children per woman. In Africa alone, the countries that have not yet embarked on their fertility transition account for over a fifth of the population of the continent.
