The present report was prepared in response to General Assembly resolution 73/241. Section II presents the latest global levels and trends in international migration. Section III discusses recent activities, undertaken by entities of the United Nations system, to support countries in integrating migration considerations into national development plans. Section IV reports on progress in measuring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and targets related to migration.

Commemoration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development

Overview

Under agenda item 14 ("Integrated and coordinated implementation of the follow-up to the outcomes of the major United Nations conferences and summits in the economic, social and related fields"), the General Assembly, at its seventy-third session, will mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) at a high-level plenary meeting on 16 July 2019 from 3 to 6 p.m. The meeting will be held in the General Assembly Hall.

21st Special Session of the General Assembly

The progress achieved and challenges encountered in implementing strategies on population and development were the central theme of this meeting of world leaders convened pursuant to a General Assembly resolution adopted on 18 December 1997.

This special session of the United Nations General Assembly was convened five years after the International Conference on Population and Development (Cairo, Egypt, 1994) to review and appraise the implementation of the Programme of Action adopted at the 1994 Conference.
