Reports on MDGs and Indigenous Peoples

 

March 1, 2016The Millennium Declaration, signed by 147 Heads of State and Government, provided an opportunity for a renewed focus on indigenous peoples in the international development debate.  However, despite the MDGs many successes, the goals did far from address indigenous peoples’ aspirations for human rights, equality and participation in the processes around the MDGs.

Desk Reviews of select MDG Reports andIndigenous Issues

This desk review analyses to what extent indigenous peoples are included, involved with or promoted within the context of the Millennium Development Goals Reports (MDGRs), produced by states inhabited by indigenous peoples. MDGRs from the following countries were reviewed: Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, Brazil, Denmark, Ethiopia, Finland, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mauritius, Namibia, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Phillippines, Sweden and Uganda.
