International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA)

FAO-Food-and-Agriculture-Organization-LogoFor the first time, indigenous peoples are explicitly invited to take part in the discussions on genetic resources held within the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA). Following this, FAO and the International Treaty (ITPGRFA) would like to share and encourage completing this electronic survey on the implementation of Farmers’ Rights (Article 9 of the Treaty). The electronic survey is aimed to gather views, perceptions, options and approaches and possible strategies to advocate for the implementation and promotion of Farmers’ Rights, including indigenous peoples. The survey is available in English, French and Spanish (link below) and will be online until 15 August 2016.

Inputs are warmly welcome and encouraged, since it is of utmost importance to give visibility to indigenous peoples, especially in such an important matter. Should there be difficulties in accessing the online questionnaire, and for any query about the International Treaty and this survey, please write to PGRFA-Treaty@fao.org.
