On 8 July, at the 27th plenary meeting of the ECOSOC: Integration Segment 2019, the Council elected eight members to the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues nominated by indigenous peoples’ organizations for a 3-year term beginning 1 January 2020.
The report of the 18th session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (2019) is now available in the six official United Nations languages. On 21 May 2018, the President of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly, Ms. María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, organized a high-level event on Culture and Sustainable Development in the ECOSOC Chamber from 10 am to 6pm. The event featured an opening segment, a roundtable, two panel discussions and a closing segment.
STI Forum Session 8: indigenous peoples, traditional knowledge, and the Sustainable Development Goals
The fourth annual Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum) took place on 14–15 May 2019 in UN Headquarters, New York. The theme of the STI Forum 2019 was “STI for ensuring inclusiveness and equality, with a special focus on SDGs 4, 8, 10, 13, and 16“.
