COVID-19 and transfer pricing

On 18 March, from 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST/New York, UNDESA will hold a virtual Webinar on the COVID-19 Impact on Transfer Pricing.

The COVID-19 outbreak is not only a health crisis, but a jobs crisis, a humanitarian crisis and a development crisis, of unprecedented scale and dimension, and it demands unprecedented responses. The implementation of government measures to detain the spread of the virus, such as lockdowns and social distance requirements, have abruptly disrupted supply chains and business operations. Transfer pricing policies need to reflect the economic disruption, take into account government aid received, and ensure that extraordinary losses - or gains - are properly attributed to group entities, according to their functional and risk profiles.

Against this backdrop, UNDESA/FSDO is expanding its capacity development activities, particularly its online offerings, to support policy makers and tax administrations of developing countries in understanding key issues in international cooperation in tax matters and how they can better position themselves to achieve their sustainable development goals.

The UN Webinar on the COVID-19 Impact on Transfer Pricing is a 4-hour virtual learning event on the COVID-19 impact on the policy and administrative aspects of the transfer pricing analyses. The webinar will be based on practical experience from renowned experts in the field. Special focus will be given to considerations for developing countries in their efforts to mobilize domestic resources for response and recovery.

Representatives from ministries of finance and national tax administrations are encouraged to attend this learning event and all stakeholders are welcome. Registrations is open until 16 March. Please click here to register!
