Everything you always wanted to know about the global economy – don’t be afraid to ask!

Is the world on the brink of a trade war? Who is benefiting the most from a global economic improvement? Who is being left out?

The daily news on the global economy often raises more questions than it offers answers. As we launch an update to the UN’s definitive World Economic Situation and Prospects report, two of UN DESA’s top experts will tackle some of the most notorious and difficult questions about the world economy. And they will do it live.

Dawn Holland and Ingo Pitterle, two of the report’s leading authors will be taking questions from the Facebook audience and answering them live on camera. This is your chance to have that nagging question you always wanted to ask – finally answered. Simply go to the event page and post your question. Then tune in on Thursday, 17 May at 12:30 pm EDT to see what some of UN’s foremost economic experts have to say about it.

”Our report is not just about the decimal points of GDP growth – we look at the bigger picture,” says Dawn Holland, Chief of the Global Economic Monitoring Branch at UN DESA. ”We ask ourselves what the future of economic growth means for decent jobs and youth employment, for our environment and climate, for women empowerment and for all the things that make up the Sustainable Development Goals.”

”Now, we would like to hear from you. What are your concerns and doubts about our economic future? We will try to answer as many of your questions as we can during the live interview. We hope that hearing different perspectives from across the globe will also be a great learning experience for us.”

The midyear update of the World Economic Situation and Prospects report will be available after its official launch on 17 May at 11 am EDT.
