The Special Track on ICTs and Older Persons at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum, 2-6 May 2022

The Special Track on ICTs and Older Persons at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2022 took place from 2 to 6 May 2022. The track was co-organized by ITU, WHO and DESA in collaboration with the private sector (the Global Coalition on Aging). Building on the outcomes of the UN International Day of Older Persons 2021 (organized by DISD) and the theme of this year’s World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2022, the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing and the 4th review and appraisal of MIPAA present an opportunity to jointly identify key action areas for cross-sectoral collaboration on digital technologies and older persons. The Track announced a Healthy Ageing Innovation Prize and DISD Director is one of the deciding judges. DISD co-organized and participated in four workshops during the week (programme attached), including the High-level Dialogue: ICTs and Digital technologies for healthy Ageing. The Track was attended by around 600 participants; of which 65% per cent are women.
