11. General Comments of human rights treaty bodies (Content Code B26)
The
human rights treaty bodies publish their interpretation of the content of
provisions in treaties, known as "General Comments" on thematic issues or
methods of work.
The
Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women and the
Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination refer to their
General Comments on specific rights as "General Recommendations".
General
Comments may be issued as individual documents, sometimes first in draft
versions (CRP in document symbols).
They are published in final reports of the treaty bodies, and some treaty body
General Comments are compiled in UN sales publications.

To facilitate systematic retrieval of adopted General Comments, assign content
code B26 (General Comments of treaty
bodies) in tag 089.

Assign content code A17 to draft
General Comments.

Assign the title subject for the treaty in tag 630 and assign the corporate name entry for the treaty body,
including the session at which the General Comment is adopted, in tag 710.
