The United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy: Advancing Women’s Leadership and Participation

On 12 March 2018, on the occasion of the 62nd Commission on the Status of Women, the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and UN Women organized a panel discussion on the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy: Advancing Women’s Leadership and Participation.

The panel discussion allowed Member States, United Nations officials, and women civil society leaders to take stock of the progress and challenges in advancing efforts to increase women’s participation and leadership and a gender dimension in countering terrorism and preventing violent extremism. This event took place in advance of the General Assembly’s 6th Review of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, which is scheduled to take place in June 2018.
