Passant Rabie is an award-winning journalist from Cairo, Egypt. She has worked for various local, independent media outlets such as Daily News Egypt, Egypt Today Magazine, and, most recently, Mada Masr, an independent digital platform for progressive, groundbreaking journalism. Throughout her career, Rabie has developed a deep interest in socio-political issues such as youth engagement, freedom of the media and security. In 2013, she was awarded the CNN African Journalist of the Year Award for her story on police violence against football fans, specifically the Ultras group, and has been focused on the Ministry of Interior and security violations ever since. She has also completed an Advanced Rights Media Training programme by Journalists for Human Rights.
