One of the perks of living in New York is that you get to fully experience four seasons. The extreme change in weather and scenery allows you to enjoy activities that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.

One of the events associated with NYC in the fall is the New York City Marathon.

People fly from all over the world to participate and the streets of the city transform into a wave of supporters who make the energy in the five boroughs vibrate higher than usual.

While only a few will have the privilege to run in the New York City Marathon, everybody has an opportunity to cross the marathon finish line.

Each year, the New York Road Runners (NYRR) organizes the Abbot Dash to the Finish Line 5K race on the first Saturday of November, one day before the marathon.

The race starts on First Avenue, in front of the United Nations compound. Finishers cross the NYC Marathon Finish Line in Central Park.

Run (or walk) with Team UN

Like we have been doing since 2015, except for 2020, Team UN will be there. Join us!

We will be running under the theme of “Scoring for People and Planet”, in support of the United Nations' recently launched initiative Football for the Goals.

You can join #UNTeam in this year’s race by following these two simple steps:

  1. Register with New York Road Runners

  2. Complete your information using this form

We encourage you to sign up quickly as this is a very popular race. You can always walk if you prefer.
