On 3 July 2013, as part of his official visit to Sri Lanka, Mr Ahmad Alhendawi the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth discussed the preparations of the World Youth Conference with the country’s Minister of External Affairs and the Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development.

On 4 July, he was a guest speaker in a discussion on the Role of Youth in the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
Mr Alhendawi also met with the UN Country Team, the UN Communications Group and the Youth Mechanism Group of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework. He discussed the development of youth policy in Sri Lanka and the meaningful involvement of youth in the United Nations in issues that are of concern to young people.
