The UN is calling for young people with skills in Big Data and analytics to help address climate change!

Launched by the UN Global Pulse and the Secretary-General’s Climate Change Team, the Big Data Climate Challenge calls for submissions of recently published or implemented climate change projects that use Big Data and analytics.

The challenge encourages multidisciplinary initiatives from all relevant fields to apply to the Big Data Climate Challenge. This includes but is not limited to: energy, smart cities, transportation, natural resource management, agriculture and food systems, ecology, complex systems, green data centers, recycling, material sciences, climate risk management, disaster risk reduction and resilience, architecture and design, behavioral science, climate finance, and economic drivers such as carbon markets and subsidies. All climate change-related projects are welcomed!

Through the use of Big Data and analytics, BDCC projects will help address the climate change issue, as well as help build public understanding and awareness of the implications.

The application deadline is 1 June 2014. Winning submissions will be featured at the United Nations Climate Change Summit in September 2014.
