On the margins of today’s Youth Summit organised by the World Bank Group in Washington today, the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, Ahmad Alhendawi, met with the President of the World Bank, Dr. Jim Young Kim.

In their meeting, Dr. Kim and Envoy Alhendawi discussed increased UN-World Bank cooperation on youth.

Following their meeting, the World Bank President and the SG’s Envoy on Youth both delivered remarks, during which Dr. Kim announced a removal of the two-year cooling off period for Junior Professional Associates with the World Bank. This was followed by the President and the Envoy handing over awards to the winners of the World Bank’s Development Case competition, a platform for discussion and results held this year under the theme “Cultivating an innovative spirit to alleviate global youth unemployment”, and which focuses on the topics of education, entrepreneurialism, youth employment, and millennial communication.
