During a visit to Germany on 8th May, the UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth Mr Ahmad Alhendawi spoke to a group of 500 participants at the “Building Tomorrow’s Europe: European Conference on youth work and youth policy.” In his closing keynote speech, he focused on youth policy from a global perspective and presented the new UN initiatives for youth.
As part of his mission in Bonn, he also met the European Commission to discuss joint cooperation on youth policy, as well as the President and Vice-President of the European Youth Forum to discuss the youth-led organizations’ agenda in Europe, as well as at the global level.

Last but not least, Mr Alhendawi also met with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Chief of Staff, Mr. Daniele Violetti, to gain insights on the intrinsic link between the right of future generations to inherit a life-sustaining planet and the need to combat climate change as well as to explore avenues for future cooperation. Agreed areas of collaboration included a contribution to a publication on youth action on climate change, a joint event with the international youth climate movement on twitter and attendance at the UN Climate Change Conference in Warsaw, Poland in November 2013 to advocate for youth agenda.
