On 5 March 2013, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Senegal to the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Abdou Salam Diallo and the Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Guillermo Rischcynski, hosted a briefing on the “Global Thematic Consultation on Education in the Post-2015 Development Agenda” at the Office of the Permanent Observer for the African Union to the United Nations in New York.

The UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth Mr Ahmad Alhendawi was on his first Official Mission to Senegal at the time of the meeting from where he spoke to the Global Meeting of the Post-2015 Global Consultation on Education.  The mission also marked the Envoy’s first press conference from which he connected to the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Addressing the Global Meeting, Mr Alhendawi, said that it is critical to have a youth-friendly post-2015 development agenda. “Youth must continue to be agents of change leading up to the Millennium Development Goals and that it is important to have youth issues represented in the final presentation of the agenda”
