During an official visit to Brazil on 23 July, the UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth, Mr Ahmad Alhendawi, took part in the celebrations of World Youth Day (WYD 2013), where he had a conversation with young people on sustainable development, and the role of youth in promoting a culture of peace.
On the sidelines of WYD, Mr Alhendawi, Brazil’s State Secretary for Youth and the UN Resident Coordinator in Brazil, jointly announced the establishment of the UN Interagency Network on Youth in Brazil. The network will serve as a platform to coordinate the UN work on Youth development in Brazil and will soon have a Youth Advisory Board advising the work of the United Nations in Brazil.
