On 17 May, the UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth Mr Ahmad Alhendawi hosted his first ever Google+ Hangout, under the theme “ONE UN: Uniting for Youth”. The Google+ Hangout focused on the Envoy’s role, and some of the key initiatives of the United Nations on youth and how it plans to engage youth at the international, regional and national levels.
Mr Alhendawi was joined by Executive Coordinator of UN Volunteers (UNV), Mr Richard Dictus and Mr Prateek Awasthi, Programme Analyst at the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) which co-chair the UN’s Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development (IANYD).

They spoke about some of the initiatives undertaken by the UN to work with and for youth; the UNV Youth Modality and the UN System Wide-Action Plan on Youth, respectively. In addition, three young people participated in the Hangout: Lloyd Russell-Moyle, Vice-President of the European Youth Forum; Danae Espinoza, Project Manager at the Integrated Platform for Sustainable Development (PIDES) and Rime Asselman, Youth Advocate and Consultant at the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
