In recognition of the third anniversary of
Security Council resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security,
United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR)
has dedicated an issue of its journal Disarmament Forum to
the topic of gender, disarmament and security. Issue 4, 2003,
entitled Women, Men, Peace and Security,
examines how gender relates to disarmament and security issues.
"Gender and post-conflict reconstruction:
lessons learned from Afghanistan"
The workshop was held on 10-11 July 2003 in Paris, France,
and was a joint effort by the United Nations Inter-agency
Network on Women and Gender Equality (IANWGE)
and OECD/DAC Network on Gender Equality.

OF 1325 --- REALITY OR FICTION?"
Organized by the Office of the Special Adviser
on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women (OSAGI), Department of Political
Affairs (DPA) and Inter-agency Taskforce on Women, Peace and Security
to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of 1325, the panel discussion
was held on 31 October 2003 at the United Nations Headquarters
in New York

Organized by the Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement
of Women, the panel discussion was held on Wednesday, 12 March 2003
at the UN Headquarters in New York
Preparatory meeting of National Women's Machineries
was held on 1 March 2003 at the New York Helmsley Hotel to plan the 7th Meeting of
Commonwealth Ministers Responsible for Women's/Gender Affairs. Ms. Angela E.V. King delivered the
opening statement.
IANWGE Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Inter-Agency Network on Women and Gender Equality (IANWGE)
took place on 24 to 27 February 2003 at the UN Headquarters in New York. For more information,

Seven Women Elected to the International Criminal Court
Women, Peace and Security
Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) mandated the Secretary-General
to carry out a study on the impact of armed conflict on women and
girls, the role of women in peace-building and the gender dimensions
of peace processes and conflict resolution. The study was launched
