The United Nations Economic Commission for
Europe (UNECE) and the Office of the Special Adviser on Gender
Issues (OSAGI) organized a regional symposium on gender
mainstreaming in economic policies from 28 to 30 January
2004 in Geneva. The symposium
reviewed and discussed the gender dimensions of economic policies,
identify good practices, challenges and potential constraints
to mainstreaming a gender perspective into economic policies.
Representatives of governments, in particular from substantive
ministries (finance, economy, etc), gender units, regional
NGOs and international organizations attended the event.
