Task Force on Gender and Financing for Development
The task force,
managed by DAW, worked actively to ensure that a gender perspective
was reflected in the preparatory process and outcome of the
International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD)
in 2001- 2002. It supported coordination and collaboration within
the UN system on gender and financing for development and the
coordination and sharing of information between the UN system,
other international and regional organizations, and NGOs and
civil society groups and networks, particularly women's groups
and networks.
A panel on
gender mainstreaming and national budgets was organized during
the FfD Conference preparatory meeting in January 2002. A Day
of Dialogue on gender and financing for development was organized
for different actors, including government representatives,
civil society groups, the private sector, representatives of
academic and representatives from the UN system prior to the
conference in Monterrey. The task force identified ways by
which the individual members of the Network could work to ensure
adequate inclusion of gender perspectives in follow-up to the
international conference.
