A Tribute to Angela E.V. King
(1938 - 2007)
This website is dedicated to the memory of Angela E.V. King, a champion for gender equality and women’s human rights within the United Nations and around the world.
Angela was deeply committed to the purposes and principles of the United Nations, where she served for nearly 38 years. She will be remembered for her advocacy for the rights of women, the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. She was outspoken about all unfair and discriminatory behaviour. She opened doors for women from all over the world and worked for the goal of 50/50 gender balance in the staffing of the United Nations system.
She will be remembered and deeply missed by many colleagues and friends.
