Interactive panel discussion at AWID Forum

The Division for the Advancement of Women hosted an interactive panel discussion and brainstorming session on “Galvanizing action to eradicate violence against women” at the AWID Forum in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday 28 October from 5:00pm - 6:30pm.

The interactive session introduced the United Nations Secretary-General’s in-depth study on violence against women, and aimed to increase awareness about the study as a vehicle for action at national and international level towards eradicating such violence. The session, structured as a brainstorming, was an opportunity for participants to raise key issues and discuss strategic recommendations to be covered by the study. Participants were encouraged to use the study and its preparation to accelerate momentum for action, accountability and monitoring at national, regional and global level.

Speakers made brief opening comments, followed by an open discussion structured around: key issues to be raised in the study, strategic recommendations, inputs by NGOs, consultative processes.
