"Preventing and eliminating violence against women"

The Division for the Advancement of Women of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs is organizing a multi-stakeholder dialogue on violence against women on Friday 3 March 2006 from 10:00am-6:00pm in conference rm.3 of United Nations Headquarters The event is organized in conjunction with the 50th session of the Commission on the Status of Women and is part of the preparations for the Secretary-General's in-depth study on violence against women.

Representatives of Member States and civil society will present successful examples of collaboration between Governments and non-governmental organizations in preventing and eliminating violence against women, in particular domestic violence/ interpersonal violence and trafficking in women. Member States and non-governmental organizations will also have the opportunity to contribute to the discussion and share their experiences in afternoon workshops.
