Secretary-General’s in-depth study on violence against women

Event Map: August 2005 – July 2006

Non-governmental organizations on the Task Force have created the following calendar of upcoming events that may act as opportunities to promote the Secretary-General’s study on violence against women and solicit input from civil society.  This calendar includes previously-planned events at the regional and international levels at which there will be a significant number of individuals and organizations present from civil society whose work focuses on issues related to gender-based violence. These venues are considered important opportunities for such persons and groups to provide crucial information and recommendations for the study.  For each of these events, possibilities for engagement with the study will be explored on a case by case basis, depending upon the nature of the event.  Possibilities include panel discussions, workshops, and distribution of the NGO input form which members of the Task Force and Advisory Committee may help to implement.  This calendar is not meant to be a complete picture of possibilities for NGO engagement; NGOs are encouraged to promote the study and solicit relevant feedback from their networks as much as possible. It will be updated as additional information becomes available.
