FROM WOMENWATCH.....

WomenWatch is holding an exhibit of the On-line Working Groups for the Beijing Review in the basement near the conference rooms from 1-12 March 1999. Visitors are welcome to view the discussion of the Working Groups and to join the mailing lists.

In June 2000 the United Nations General Assembly will review five years of progress since the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing. The General Assembly will examine the progress of Governments towards the commitments made in Beijing and propose further actions.

WomenWatch, the United Nations Gateway on the Advancement of Women and Empowerment of Women, is sponsoring Virtual Working Groups to discuss the critical areas of concern from the Beijing Platform for Action. These Working Groups, which are conducted through email, will provide concrete ideas and suggestions for the General Assembly’s review.

You are invited to join an on-line community of NGOs, Governments, academics and interested individuals to discuss the work being done for women’s advancement and the problems that still need to be addressed.

Anyone who has email can participate in the Working Groups. For more information, please visit WomenWatch exhibit or the website at www.un.org/womenwatch (click on Global Forum). You can also email us for further information at womenwatch@un.org.
