48th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women
Dear NGO Colleagues,
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will hold its forty-eighth session from 1 to 12 March 2004, at United Nations Headquarters, New York. The Commission will focus on two thematic issues (i) the role of men and boys in achieving gender equality (ii) women's equal participation in conflict prevention, management and conflict resolution and in-post-conflict peace building.
As your non-governmental organization (NGO) has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), we invite you to complete the pre-registration form indicating the name(s) of your representative(s) whom you are designating to attend the Commission. Please do not send any duplicate pre-registration forms via fax or through the mail as this will only delay the processing of information. For those organizations without internet access, kindly mail the attached pre-registration form directly to CSW48 NGO Registration, Division for the Advancement of Women, 2 UN Plaza, Room DC2-1282D, New York, NY 10017, USA, or faxed to (212) 963-3463 no later than Wednesday, 31 December 2003. We request that you complete the attached form using a typewriter. Please note that for names received after 31 December 2003, no confirmation letters will be issued.
The United Nations will not facilitate the travel and other arrangements of subsistence of any participants to CSW48. All arrangements surrounding travel, visas, accommodation and daily subsistence costs are the exclusive responsibility of the participants themselves.
As has been the case in previous CSW sessions, there will be a room set aside for NGO briefings and caucuses during the session. There will also be daily briefings for NGOs, conducted in cooperation with the NGO Committee on the Status of Women. If your organization wishes to conduct briefings or hold caucus meetings, to begin the application process, please send an e-mail requesting a form to email@example.com.
In addition, information about the session, its organization of work, and reports to be considered by the Commission will be posted on the Division's website: http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/
