IMPORTANT and URGENT Announcement for NGO representatives who have pre-registered for CSW54

A significant number of NGO representatives from around the world have pre-registered to participate in the fifty-fourth session of the Commission on the Status of Women that took place at United Nations Headquarters to assess progress in implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and the outcomes of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly.

Ongoing renovations of the United Nations Headquarters complex have put a major strain on building facilities and space availability for meetings. As a result, NGO access is limited at official UN meetings as well as at parallel events organized by Member States and United Nations Entities.

Please be advised that:

• Pre-registration is closed, as of 18 February 2010
• On-site registration does not automatically give access to meetings
• The number of NGO representatives that are able to attend official meetings is determined in accordance with the capacity of the conference rooms
• Special Event Tags are required for access to parallel events
• The number of Special Event Tags varies per event
