Technical Cooperation Programmes Capacity-building for promoting gender equality in the African countries: training on gender sensitive national planning and budgeting (2001-2003) Two sub-regional training workshops on gender sensitive national planning and budgeting were held in Tanzania, 4-7 December 2001, for English-speaking countries, and in Mali, 17-20 February 2003, for French-speaking countries. These workshops aimed to: (i) sensitize key stakeholders in national planning and budgeting processes on the goal of gender equality (ii) increase awareness of key stakeholders about the links between promotion of gender equality and other global and regional development goals and strategies, such as the Millennium Declaration and the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) (iii) propose strategies for systematic and sustainable integration of gender equality into national planning and budgeting processes and (iv) identify ways to ensure that the gender equality goal is integral to national development planning.
