Online Gender Campus of the ILO International Training Centre: Guided Reading Modality

The Online Gender Campus of the ILO International Training Centre is launching the 2012 edition of its Modular Self-Learning Gender Course.This course introduces participants to basic gender concepts and tools, providing them with essential instruments for gender mainstreaming.
This specific session of the course (6 February - 15 June 2012) will be available in "Guided Reading" modality. Guided Reading (self-learning study) provides access to the learning platform and to its information contents. It does not foresee individual tutoring or collaborative activities. The option requires approximately 5 hours per module. Guided readers receive a certificate of attendance upon the completion of all the modules.

The fifty-sixth session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 27 February to 9 March 2012. Representatives from Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world will attend the session. There will be a number of activities, including interactive dialogues and panels, during the two-week session.
This following highlights key focus areas of CSW 2012.

The empowerment of rural women and their role in poverty and hunger eradication, development and current challenges
- Review Theme: Financing for gender equality and the empowerment of women (agreed conclusions from the fifty-second session)
