4th Forum on Gender Equality : "Gendered dimensions
of Climate change"
19 June 2008 : 10:30 am - 1 pm (Room XII)
The 4th UNESCO Forum on Gender Equality will focus on the gendered dimensions of climate change, and what UNESCO and the broader UN-system is doing to address this important issue. This UNESCO Forum is of particular relevance to UNESCO’s recent contribution to the United Nations System Chief Executives Board (CEB) Co-coordinated UN System Action on Climate Change document, as well as UNESCO’s draft Strategy for Action on Climate Change, both of which recognize that climate change affects women and men differently and will not be gender neutral.
The Forum will be moderated by Ms Saniye Gülser CORAT, Director of the Division for Gender Equality, Bureau of Strategic Planning. Panelists will include:
- Mr Patricio BERNAL, Assistant Director-General, Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (ADG/IOC);
- Mr Badaoui ROUHBAN, Chief of UNESCO’s Disaster Reduction and Renewable Energy Section (SC/BES/DRE); and
- Ms Yianna LAMBROU, Senior Gender Equality, Energy and Climate Change Specialist with the FAO, and FAO representative to the Inter-Agency Gender and Water Task Force.
