Managing Internet Addresses: Global and regional viewpoint

The current system of managing Internet address space involves five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs), which together share a global responsibility delegated to them by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), to guarantee the fair distribution and responsible management of IP addresses and the related numeric resources that are required for the stable and reliable operation of the Internet. In particular, the Internet numeric resources allocated, assigned, and registered by RIRs are Internet address numbers (IPv4 and IPv6), AS numbers and reverse Resolution.
