Dear NYC High School Principals,
As part of the United Nations' commemoration of UN Day in October, we are pleased to offer an exciting program for New York City public high schools, entitled UN4U.
In its 6th consecutive year, UN4U provides an opportunity for your students to be briefed by a UN official during the last two weeks of October.
If you are interested in having a UN official visit your school, the following is general information about UN4U:
- Speakers address the students for approximately 1 hour, which includes: a short video, a brief overview of the UN and a Q&A session
- Schools are asked to organize an assembly in an appropriate venue, for a minimum of 50 students, with audio and video capabilities
- Schools are asked to reimburse the speaker’s round-trip transportation, most likely by subway, bus or taxi. Please note that UN officials cannot accept honoraria or gifts. Being unable to meet this expense should not preclude you from applying
- UN speakers will be made available to schools on a first-come, first-served basis, so please contact us as soon as possible
